At an early age, I began learning Adobe programs such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Flash. I was animating digitally by 5th grade and coding my own websites by middle school. It was at this time that I began developing a passion for animating and developing my own stories and characters. Motivated by people like Nick Park of Aardman Studios and Tim Burton, I decided early on that I wanted to have a career in the field of animation. With a love for digital capabilities in art, by high school I began exploring classes in digital animation and created my own independent study class so that I could practice the traditional art of animation. I was even inspired to write my junior year history term paper on the effects of American culture within the 20th century through animation.
Currently, as an Undergraduate Fine Arts student at the University of Connecticut, I am exploring my interests in a variety of mediums and areas. Developing skills in both traditional and digital art, my portfolio includes a range of work, including work that I began developing in high school. The majority of my artwork revolves around digital work that I completed through a mixture of Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash. I enjoy combining these programs and using specific elements of each to create unique art pieces. Traditionally, I do the majority of my drawing, sketching and planning in pencil and occasionally in charcoal. Everything is first thought out on paper and then imported into the computer where I further my original ideas.
I enjoy creating work that is whimspical and I consider it an accomplishment when people react towards my artwork positively. I try to make all of my characters very playful and unique. I feel I have developed a style that reflects my own personality and characteristics along with the ones of people around me.
