| No this guy wasn't airborne in the original photo. The challenge here was taking our adventurer off the driveway and into the air without deleting the details of the wires that hold the wings together. I did this the hard way. I did a series of color selections and then refined them using the Quick Mask mode in Photoshop. The easy way would have been to use a product called Mask Pro by Extensis. This product enhances the color selection feature and performs miracles. To me it is almost cheating. Never the less, this was fun practice. Where I slipped, I drew the wires back in with a very small brush.
Tip #1: To draw a straight line click once where you'd like the line to begin. Then release and go to where the line should end. Hold shift and click again. The line fills in perfectly straight. Tip #2: Select by Color is a strange interface, it is just a starting point. I usually do go from there to Quick Mask mode. |
