PHOTO REPAIR

This image required facial reconstruction. This was a tim print circa 1870. The tin had been bent and was actually rusting. After scanning at 400 dpi to allow for enlargement during repair, most of the cleaning was done with the rubber stamp tool in Photoshop. The difficulty in repairing this image was the chin and neck which are completely destroyed in the original. Cloning from the upper jaw and cheeks it is easy enough to capture a skin texture. But without reference the shape of the face becomes artistic judgement. Again, the background remains grained and the image is duotoned to maintain the aged look.
